Things I have worried about already today, before 9:00:
- Will I ever have to take a family member in, if they go out of their mind or become indigent? I have a spare room. Should I move to a smaller house so I can’t do that?
- What am I forgetting?
- Why does my cat not like the automatic feeder any more.?
- Is it bacteria?
- Is he too short to reach the bottom of the revolving dish?
- Will he eat while I’m gone over night?
- I have three wells in the revolving tray. Which meal should he skip?
- When he dies, should I get another cat? He’s only ten. But I was worrying the other day that he was sick, and I never want to go through another cat death. The only death I want to go through is my own. But cats need homes. And they give me someone to talk to.
- Will I ever use all the frequent flyer miles I have accumulated, which are enough to take a business-class round trip to Europe? I hate flying. The world is chaotic right now. I have a hard enough time taking an overnight trip on the train.
- I donated my old Switch to the outfit that picks up your usable stuff. Will the new owner be able to access my Switch account?
- How am I going to get that immense industrial table out of my house and taken away? I took it apart, but it’s heavy.
- Will I forget to lock the house when I leave today? The answer is yes, of course, but I could set a location alert so that once I get a block away, I will know to go back and check.
- Whether some friend/acquaintance/family member is (a) fed up with me (b) having a mental health incident (c) annoyed with me.
- Whether anyone is ever going to talk to me again.
- Why the cat is going upstairs after he eats, and sitting with his paws folded on the spare bed. Doesn’t he love me any more?
- What am I forgetting?
- I packed lightly for an overnight trip, but packing lightly still means the bag is heavy. Am I going to hurt my shoulder?
- Should I pack my current book? It would add more weight to my bag. The answer is no. But should I pack a book? I have a book in my Kindle account on my phone. But should I pack a book? I should always pack a book. I’m not packing a book. But what if I miss my book?
- Will someone accuse me of shoplifting because I’m carrying around an immense heavy tote bag?
- Do I have time to return the two library books I abandoned yesterday?
- Should I have an extra couple of ibuprofen in that baggie I stuck in the bottom of my overnight bag?
- Should I take my crossword puzzle book? I have a lot of puzzles I do online, but what if I use them up?
- I have too many fountain pens, and I don’t need any more. Therefore, I am going to a fountain pen show to look at expensive fountain pens I don’t need. Why do I do this?
- I signed up for a vintage fountain pen workshop tonight, which invites people to bring their vintage fountain pens. I inked all the ones that still work and packed them. What if:
- Someone makes fun of my little old fountain pens?
- Someone mugs me in the train station and takes my overnight bag, with all my vintage fountain pens?
- That fountain pen, the one that was sort of leaking, leaks all over my bag?
- I forget the pen case in my hotel room?
- It’s a boring workshop with a lot of old white men who, in another time, would all be smoking pipes and talking about “the little woman?”
- I meet a man and think he’s cute? I never want to be married again. That way lies taking care of someone and burying him. I hate dating. I don’t like going out to dinner.
- What will I eat tonight? I hate hotel restaurants. I packed some trail mix. That has gotten me through a number of trips to Europe. I’ll be fine.
- What if my train that got rescheduled is actually on the original schedule, and therefore when I leave the house and arrive at the train station, it will already be gone?
- Should I leave two hours early, so I have time to go back and get what I forgot?
- What else am I forgetting?
