Choose a tree.
Identify the tree at Haverford College. With a digital camera, take a picture of the tree. Also take a picture of the leaf. Pick one leaf, bring it back to the classroom, and press it.
Take your science journal to library class. Use books, encyclopedias, and Internet resources to find out other information about your tree. In library class, write down at least six facts and the author, title, publisher, and copyright date of the books you used. If you use a web site on one of the library computers, write down the name of the web site you used so you can find its bibliography information again later.
Take your science journal to computer class and start writing. If you need to do more research, you may use the World Wide Web.
Your report should have a proper header and be two paragraphs long. A paragraph is at least 5 sentences long and begins with a topic sentence, and you must check your spelling and punctuation. Tell what you learned in the library and what you learned by observing the tree. Use your own words. You should also have a bibliography giving your sources.
When you are finished writing your paper, insert the picture of the tree you took.
With the pressed leaf, make a herbarium page.
