Web Sites for Parents
This is not a complete list. It's just some things I came across.
- Worried about monitoring your son's Internet use? GetNetWise
says it "is a public service brought to you by a wide range of Internet industry
corporations and public interest organizations. The GetNetWise coalition wants
Internet users to be only 'one click away' from the resources they need to
make informed decisions about their family's use of the Internet" - the URL
is http://www.getnetwise.org
- Tips For Parents - Helping
Your Child With Homework at http://k12s.phast.umass.edu/~hharg/homeworkhelp.htm
is a U.S. Department of Education article with good general advice.
- Partnership for
a Drug-Free America has a great web site for parents, with good information
about drugs, at http://www.drugfreeamerica.org
- I teach an introductory fencing class after school at Haverford. Interested
in fencing for your child? Call the Lower School office to sign up. Check
out the Official
USFA Fencing Parent Website at http://people.ne.mediaone.net/merritt8/parent.html
-
- The FamilyEducation
Network has some useful things on it, such as how to deal with your fifth-grader's
first-day jitters and how to help him with his homework, though navigation
is a little awkward on this site: http://familyeducation.com
- I'll post some more sites when I have a moment to look around - or let
me know if you find anything!
