How to Review for a Test

There will be a unit test at the end of every packet. The review section of the packet tells you what will be on the test. Every test will have a vocabulary section where you match the words with their definitions. Every test will have written-answer questions where you have to write a complete sentence. Some tests will have matching questions or questions where you have to put things in order. Every test will have a paragraph question where you put your knowledge together. Every test will have "stretch" questions.

  1. Look at the last section of the packet. Here's where Dr. Turner tells you what's going to be on the test. Make sure you understand what it says, and ask Dr. Turner if you don't understand anything.
  2. Make flash cards for the vocabulary words out of index cards. Quiz yourself on them. Get someone else to quiz you on them.
  3. Look at the other parts of the review. Each part tells you something you must know for the test. Look in the text to find those things. Quiz yourself on them. Get someone else to quiz you on them.
  4. Look for the "paragraph" question, usually the last item. Practice writing a paragraph about that question. Get someone else to read it and see if it makes sense.
  5. Look through your homework assignments in your folder. Read your answers. If you wrote a complete answer, some of them will be answers to questions on the test. If you got an answer wrong, go find the correct answer and memorize it.
  6. Look through your quizzes in your folder. If you got an answer wrong, find the correct answer and memorize it.
  7. Look through your journal. Read your notes about the "stretch" facts and memorize a few.
  8. Play the vocabulary matching games on Dr. Turner's web site.
  9. When you are all done, play the challenge game on Dr. Turner's web site if you feel like it.
  10. Bring a couple of sharpened pencils and a good book to class.
